Professor Sir Geoff Palmer OBE - Academic and Human Rights Activist

School for CEOs prepare business leaders for senior roles - purposefully, pragmatically and personally. We do this by discussing the unique insights of our Faculty of 100 senior leaders at our programmes, who share their personal experiences and challenges as CEOs, Non-Executive Directors and Chairs.

This podcast is designed to share some of those stories with you, inviting a diverse range of speakers from CEOs of some of the UK's most successful businesses, to elite sportspeople and military leaders.

Here we share our 21st episode, featuring Professor Sir Geoff Palmer OBE, leading academic and prominent human rights activist.

Professor Sir Geoff Palmer OBE is a Professor Emeritus at the School of Life Sciences at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh. His research in the Brewing and Distilling industry has received international acclaim and revolutionised the way beer is made.

Alongside this, Sir Geoff devotes much of his time campaigning for racial equality and teaching others about Black History. Following the Black Lives Matter movement he has been more active than ever, featuring across all forms of media and publications, sharing his views on our relationship with the past and the recent abuse of statues of historic figures who supported the oppression of black people.  In this feature episode, we discuss immigration, belonging, race, academia, activism and more.
