Second Runway programme delivers "valuable insights"
23 April 2015
Today the School for CEOs ran the second Runway programme. The executive leadership programme, launched in November last year, is centred on the Four-Dimensional Leadership™ framework designed by the School.
These sessions were delivered by the School for CEOs Co-Founders Patrick Macdonald and David Sole, Programme Director June Boyle and members of the School for CEOs Faculty.
At a private dinner on the eve of the programme, Donald Brydon CBE, former Chairman of Smiths Group and current Chairman of Royal Mail Group and Sage Group, shared valuable insights from his experiences. He talked about the qualities he looks for when recruiting a new CEO, the relationship between the CEO, Chairman and Board and some of the qualities he expects will be needed by the next generation of CEOs.
Susan Kay, HR Director of BT Wholesale & Group functions, joined the group today to develop the topic of succession planning from an organisational perspective, highlighting the key dimensions that a Board uses to assess readiness and development.
Guy Beresford, Partner at the Independent Search Partnership, gave his views on the types of search assignments that executive search firms receive. He discussed how they go about finding the CEO with the right personal and professional qualities to be successful.
Talking about the Four-Dimensional Leadership™ framework, Patrick Macdonald commented: “Using our proprietary research as the foundation, we have developed a tool that leaders can use to assess all aspects of their management skills. In addition to our self-assessment tool, participants have gleaned valuable insights from our Faculty who add colour and context to the programme.”
Notes for editors: The School for CEOs is a new approach to senior executive education. It was founded in 2011 by: Patrick Macdonald, Chairman of Reconomy and former Chief Executive of John Menzies plc; and David Sole, business coach and former international rugby captain. The next Runway programme takes place 8 July. The next 2-day residential Vital Few programme will take place on 7/8 October 2015. All programmes are taught in London by accomplished business leaders and expert practitioners, and aim to provide senior businessmen and women with the tools they need to be successful leaders.
