School for CEOs Faculty in Queen’s 90th Birthday Honours list

15 June 2016

School for CEOs congratulates Faculty members Sir Terry Morgan CBE and The Rt Hon The Lord Smith of Kelvin KT CH on their inclusion in the Queen’s 90th Birthday Honours list. Chairman of Crossrail since 2009, Sir Terry was awarded his knighthood “for services to UK infrastructure, skills and employment” and was appointed to lead the development of a transport infrastructure skills strategy by the government last year.

Lord Smith of Kelvin was awarded Order of the Companions of Honour for public service, particularly in Scotland. As well as his current Chairmanships at Green Investment Bank, IMI, Alliance Trust, Forth Ports and Clyde Gateway, Lord Smith is also Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde. He also chaired the Smith Group, advising Scottish Government on young people not in education, employment or training, and in 2013 he chaired the committee which produced the Code of Governance for Higher Education in Scotland. In September 2014, Lord Smith was appointed as Chair of the Smith Commission to oversee the process of taking forward the cross party commitment on more powers for the Scottish Parliament.

For David Sole OBE, Co-founder at School for CEOs, “It’s fantastic to see Sir Terry and Lord Smith acknowledged in the latest honours list. It is a privilege to have them on our Faculty to support and inspire the next generation of senior leaders”.

Notes for editors:

The School for CEOs is a new concept in senior executive education. It was founded in 2011 by: Patrick Macdonald, Chairman of Reconomy, CEO of Dalestone Energy and former Chief Executive of John Menzies plc; and David Sole, business coach and former international rugby captain. The next School for CEOs programme is the 1-day non-residential Runway programme on 15 September in London.  The next Vital Few programme will take place in London on 12/13 October. The 2-day residential programme will be taught by practitioners: current and former business leaders. It aims to provide senior businessmen and women with the tools they need to be successful in CEO and other senior leadership positions.
