School for CEOs conclude 2015 programme calendar with Runway
19 November 2015
Today School for CEOs run their third Runway programme.
Shaping the programme around their Five Dimensional Management™ framework, the one-day workshop assesses and evaluates delegates on their ability to Manage Up, Down, Out, In and Across. A self-assessment questionnaire explores delegates’ strengths and development areas within each of these dimensions and helps them develop a personal development plan.
This programme was delivered with the support of Jacqueline Davies, HR Director at The Financial Conduct Authority. Jacqueline joined the group to provide an inside track on the topic of Succession Planning. She explained ‘what good looks like’ and advised how delegates can develop and prepare themselves for senior leadership roles.
Sam Allen, Managing Director of Global Executive Search firm Sam Allen Associates, also joined the group to share her external perspective as a headhunter. Often acting as an advisor to the Chair and Board on senior appointments, Sam offered a unique perspective and insights on what these key stakeholders are looking for when they search for executive leaders.
The evening before the programme, the delegate group gathered for dinner where Patrick Macdonald, Co-Founder of School for CEOs and Chairman of Reconomy, talked about his role as Chair of the private-equity backed organisation. Conversation over dinner explored the characteristics required to get to the top job and succeed in it.
After the workshop Programme Director, June Boyle, talked about the development of the Five Dimensional Management model, “Initially we focussed on four core dimensions omitting Managing Across. However, our research tells us that managing across your peer group and collaborating with your peers can help you raise the support you need when progressing to more senior positions. We believe that our Five Dimensional Management framework considers every aspect of successful leadership.”
Notes for editors: The School for CEOs is a new approach to senior executive education. It was founded in 2011 by: Patrick Macdonald, Chairman of Reconomy and former Chief Executive of John Menzies plc; and David Sole, business coach and former international rugby captain. The next Runway programme takes place 21 April 2016. The next 2-day residential Vital Few programme will take place on 16/17 March 2016. All programmes are taught in London by accomplished business leaders and expert practitioners, and aim to provide senior businessmen and women with the tools they need to be successful leaders.
