Spring - a time for growth
Growth and building a sustainable business are high on the agenda for School for CEOs Faculty this week:
- Aviva's acquisition of Friends Life has taken a big step forward as a large majority of shareholders from both companies declare their support of the deal. Andy Briggs, current Group CEO of Friends Life and School Faculty member will lead what will be the UK’s largest insurance, savings and asset management business.
- Growth in the US and North Asia is a key priority for Martin Gilbert, CEO of Aberdeen Asset Management speaking at a conference in Singapore. With U.S. investors still accounting for half of the world’s wealth, “we have to get bigger in the U.S”.
- Niall Booker has extended his contract with the Cooperative Bank. While the Bank cut their debt from £633m to £264m last year, for Niall, "we are in the early stages of the turnaround and there is still much to do to transform the bank into a sustainable business."
- Finally, Katherine Garrett-Cox has been nominated for the prestigious Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award. A very worthy nominee. We wish her the best of luck.
